BANGKOK, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's consumer confidence rebounded to a three-month high in June, driven by new government support measures and lower oil prices linked to easing Middle East tensions, a survey showed on Thursday.

According to a survey of 2,242 respondents conducted by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the consumer confidence index picked up to 50.7 last month from 49.5 in May, marking the first gain since February.

The readings hovering below the 100-point threshold indicated that consumers remained concerned about the overall economy, while the ongoing geopolitical uncertainty continued to pose downside risks that could affect consumer morale, the university said in a statement.

However, the new phase of the government's co-payment stimulus program helped improve consumer purchasing power, reducing cost-of-living pressures and contributing to the broader recovery of the Thai economy, the university said.

It also expects consumers to remain cautious in their spending but to begin increasing their expenditures in the third quarter of the year, supported by the co-payment program, which runs from June through September.
