Venezuela quake death toll crosses 4,500 as country evaluates economic impact

The death toll from the two ‌earthquakes that struck Venezuela on June 24 has risen to ⁠4,561, with over 16,740 injured, National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez announced on social media on Monday.

Beyond human casualties, the country is also evaluating the economic impact of the disaster.

Venezuela's top economic advisor Calixto Ortega said, "In the coming weeks, we will present a sustainability analysis of necessary debt for restructuring," adding that the plan will incorporate the economic impact of recent earthquakes.
