Afghan police seize drugs, detain 61 drug traffickers

KABUL, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Afghan counter-narcotics police have seized large quantities of illegal drugs, including heroin, and taken 61 drug traffickers into custody, said a statement from the Ministry of Interior Affairs on Tuesday.

"In the drive against illegal drugs, the personnel of counter-narcotics police discovered a variety of outlawed items, including hashish, methamphetamine, heroin, and 11,000 intoxicating tablets locally known as 'Tablet K,' from Kapisa, Parwan, and Nangarhar provinces," the statement posted on the social platform X emphasized.

Police have also arrested 61 individuals on charges of smuggling and distributing narcotics to the public, the statement further said.

Warning that it would take stern action, the statement said that police would not allow anyone to produce or traffic illegal drugs anywhere else in the country.
