Built at a cost of 16 million afghani (around 246,000 U.S. dollars), the network can supply clean water to more than 500 families, comprising thousands of people, in two villages in the provincial capital Firoz Koah, the RTA said Thursday night.

Welcoming the initiative, the locals called upon their government to launch similar projects in other parts of the province to overcome water shortage, the report added.

Earlier, Afghan authorities reported construction of 14 water supply networks to provide clean water for nearly 2,500 families in the eastern Parwan province.
