Andy ‌Burnham ⁠was confirmed ‌as the ‌new ‌leader of ‌Britain's governing ⁠Labour ‌Party on ‌Friday, replacing Keir Starmer.

As the only eligible nominated candidate, Burnham received 379 nominations from Labour MPs and 23 from affiliated trade unions and socialist societies, UK's Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, in her role as chair of Labour's National Executive Committee, announced at a special conference in central London.

In his first speech as Labour leader, Burnham ‌said he had ‌not yet decided ⁠who ‌would serve in his cabinet ‌but promised his senior team would reflect ⁠all parts ⁠of ⁠the party.

Burnham is set to replace Starmer as UK prime minister on Monday, when he will meet King Charles III.
