JAKARTA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has condemned the attacks on commercial vessels navigating in the Red Sea, the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

Such an act is contrary to international law, including the principle of freedom of navigation, and endangers maritime safety, international trade, and regional stability, the ministry said in an official social media post.

Indonesia calls on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, refrain from actions that could further escalate tensions, and respect international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, it added.
