Ukrainian missile attack kills 6, injures 26 in Russia's Kirov region: governor

MOSCOW, July 24 (Xinhua) -- A Ukrainian missile strike on an enterprise in Russia's Kirov region on Friday killed six people and injured 26 others, regional Governor Alexander Sokolov said in a statement posted on social media.

Sokolov said the attack targeted an enterprise in the city of Kirov, about 790 km northeast of Moscow, on Friday morning. The injured are receiving medical care.

He further said the fire triggered by the strike has been extinguished, and emergency crews are working to deal with the aftermath.

Water and electricity supplies have been restored. Inspections of nearby residential buildings are underway to assess any damage and establish what assistance is needed.
