NEW DELHI, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The Indian government has stated that investigators have so far found no defects in the fuel control switch locking mechanism aboard Air India Flight AI-171, which crashed last year.

The information was presented by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol on Monday in the upper house of the Indian parliament, locally called Rajya Sabha, during the ongoing session, local media reported on Wednesday.

The minister informed parliament that the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau's (AAIB) final report has not been delayed, maintaining that investigations into major air crashes are an evolving process.

Mohol said the final investigation report, including all the findings, will be made public and published on the AAIB website after completion of the investigation.

On June 12 last year, the London-bound Air India aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, about 17 km south of Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat, killing all but one of the 242 people on board.

The accident also killed 19 people and injured 67 others on the ground after it crashed at the premises of B J Medical College in the Meghaninagar area, causing severe damage to the buildings.
