A US attack killed three people, including a 2-year-old child, on Iran's Qeshm Island, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said on Thursday, after the US military said it had completed a new wave of strikes against targets in Iran.

The strike hit a residential home in the Chah Tangu neighbourhood of Qeshm Island, killing a family of three — the father, mother and their young child — Fars news agency reported, citing Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences. Two other children were injured, the report said.

Qeshm Island, located in Iran's southern Hormozgan province near the Strait of Hormuz, is the country's largest island and lies close to major energy shipping routes.
