At least 29 people have been killed, 129 injured and four remain missing after recent flash floods swept parts of eastern, southeastern and central Afghanistan, the World Health Organization (WHO) in Afghanistan announced, the local media Tolo news reported on Monday.

According to the report, the provinces of Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Ghazni, Kabul, Kapisa, Panjshir, Parwan, Logar and Maidan Wardak were affected, with the floods causing casualties and widespread property damage.

The WHO said at least 300 families were affected in Nuristan and Laghman alone.

The organization added that, in coordination with its health partners, it has deployed three mobile health teams to the affected areas to provide medical services to flood victims.
