HANOI, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Hanoi People's Council on Monday approved a resolution on the establishment and reorganization of several specialized agencies under the municipal People's Committee, reducing their total number from 15 to 14, local media Voice of Vietnam reported.

Under the restructuring, the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture will be merged into the Department of Construction, with the new department assuming state management responsibilities for construction planning and architecture, construction investment, urban development, as well as urban and rural technical infrastructure.

The Department of Tourism will be merged into the Department of Culture and Sports to form the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which will be responsible for the state management of culture, family affairs, sports, tourism, press, publishing, printing, radio and television broadcasting, external information, among other areas.

The city will also establish the Department of Foreign Affairs by transferring to it the relevant functions, responsibilities, organizational structure, personnel, finances and assets currently under the municipal People's Committee Office, said the report.
