Foreign investment in Azerbaijan jumps 18.2 pct in H1

BAKU, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Foreign investment in fixed capital in Azerbaijan rose 18.2 percent year on year to 2.4 billion manats (about 1.41 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of 2026, the country's central bank said Wednesday.

Foreign investment accounted for 25.8 percent of Azerbaijan's total fixed-capital investment during the period, up 1 percentage point from a year earlier.

A total of 9.3 billion manats (about 5.47 billion U.S. dollars) from both domestic and foreign investors poured into the country's economy in the first half of the year, up 13.8 percent year on year.

Investment in Azerbaijan's oil and gas industry, the backbone of its economy, jumped 34.3 percent to 3.16 billion manats (about 1.86 billion U.S. dollars) during the period. Investment outside the energy sector grew modestly by 5.5 percent to 6.13 billion manats (about 3.61 billion U.S. dollars).
