TOKYO, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Four people have been confirmed dead after heavy rain pounded Japan's Chiba Prefecture on Thursday and continued into early Friday, local authorities said.

According to the Chiba prefectural government, the disaster has left four people dead, one person missing, one in cardiac arrest, and four others with minor injuries.

About 25,270 households in Chiba Prefecture were without electricity as of 7:30 a.m. local time Friday due to torrential rain, Tokyo Electric Power Company said.

The Japan Meteorological Agency changed its Level Five Emergency Warning, the highest on its scale, that covered parts of Chiba Prefecture to Level four or lower on Friday morning, after Chiba experienced record amounts of rain.

According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, evacuation orders were issued for more than 400,000 people in Chiba and Ibaraki prefectures at one point.

As of 7 a.m. local time Friday, the evacuation orders remained in effect for around 126,000 people in the two prefectures, according to the agency.

Weather officials are still urging people to be on alert for landslides, floods in low-lying areas, and swollen rivers.
