Zambia electoral body suspends counting, announcement of election results

LUSAKA, Aug.14 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's electoral body on Friday announced the indefinite suspension of counting and announcement of election results following reports of violence experienced during the counting process.

Brown Kasaro, the Election Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chief Electoral Officer said the commission has received reports of violence during counting in some polling stations and theft of counted ballot papers.
He said during during a press briefing that the suspension will be reviewed within 24 hours. He however did not mention the number of affected polling stations.
