Islamabad (People's Daily) - Pakistan is set to assume the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for a one-year term following the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit in Bishkek, the Pakistan foreign ministry said at its weekly press briefing on Thursday.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit the capital of Kyrgyzstan to participate in the SCO Council of Heads of State Summit, scheduled to be held from August 31 to September 1, said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Tahir Andrabi.
Pakistan will host the SCO summit in Islamabad in 2027, which Andrabi said would be the hallmark of its chairmanship.
