HONG KONG, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 jolted the South Sandwich Islands region at 2346 GMT on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 125.9 km, was initially determined to be at 56.21 degrees south latitude and 27.91 degrees west longitude.
