PHNOM PENH, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported 792,212 tons of milled rice in the first eight months of 2026, marking a significant 67.5 percent rise from the 472,803 tons shipped during the same period last year, the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF) said on Thursday.

This export boom generated 464.1 million U.S. dollars in revenue from January to August, representing a 33 percent increase from the 348 million dollars recorded during the first eight months of 2025.

According to the CRF, 61 companies shipped Cambodian milled rice to 66 countries and regions worldwide during this period. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the European Union, and China remained the primary destination markets for the kingdom's rice exports.

CRF President Lay Chhun Hour said last month that the Southeast Asian country expects to comfortably achieve the government-set target of exporting 1 million tons of milled rice for the first time this year.
