Afghan authorities launch 3,229 development projects worth 87 mln USD

KABUL, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Afghan authorities have initiated the construction of 3,229 development and essential infrastructure projects valued at 87 million U.S. dollars nationwide, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said on Sunday.

The portfolio encompasses the construction of rural road networks, irrigation canals, bridges, culverts, and protective retaining walls, alongside a range of supplementary welfare undertakings, said the ministry.

According to the ministry, these projects will be rolled out across 23 out of the country's 34 provinces, underscoring a strategic commitment to broadening the reach of civic development.

Beyond enhancing living standards in rural areas through improved transportation, agricultural support and social amenities, the projects are expected to generate employment for thousands of local residents.

Officials indicated that the government intends to expand the program with additional development, infrastructure and agricultural initiatives financed through the domestic budget, aiming to alleviate persistent economic pressures and stimulate job creation across the war-stricken country.
