1 killed, 10 wounded in Israeli airstrikes on S. Lebanon: ministry
BEIRUT, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and at least 10 others were wounded on Monday afternoon in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.
The ministry said in a statement that the strikes killed one person in the town of Al-Reyhan in Jezzine district and wounded nine others, including two children and three women, in the Al-Maslah neighborhood of Nabatieh city. Another person was wounded in Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
Lebanon's National News Agency reported that Israeli warplanes carried out two further strikes on Nabatieh al-Fawqa within less than 15 minutes and targeted the town of Mansouri.
The ministry said the cumulative death toll from Israeli attacks between March 2 and Sept. 7 had reached 4,381.
The latest developments came amid continued tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border despite a framework agreement signed between Lebanon and Israel in late June. Israel says it operations are aimed at eliminating Hezbollah threats.
