Afghan forces foil attempts to traffic over 130 individuals, arrest 7

KABUL, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Afghan police have thwarted attempts of trafficking 137 individuals out of the country and took into custody seven traffickers in western Afghanistan's Nimroz province on Saturday, Spokesman for the provincial police office Mawlawi Gul Mohammad Qudrat said Sunday.

A group of traffickers was attempting to traffic 137 persons out of the country illegally via Nimroz borders, but personnel of the 3rd Police District tracked down the traffickers and rescued the victims, the official said.

Police also arrested seven traffickers along with 11 vehicles used in transporting the individuals, the official further said.

Countless Afghans often leave their post-war country through dangerous routes in search of jobs to escape poverty and unemployment in their homeland.
