21 Palestinians injured in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza: sources

GAZA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least 21 Palestinians were injured, some seriously, in Israeli airstrikes on various areas of the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian sources on Monday.

In the latest development, eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli drone targeted the roof of a residential house near al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City with two missiles.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Gaza civil defense service, told Xinhua that a person was seriously injured in the raid and was transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment.

Earlier, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a tent housing displaced people in central Gaza City, causing fires to break out and causing serious damage to the adjacent tents, according to local sources.

Basal said that 10 Palestinians, including women and children, were injured in the raid, some of them seriously, and were taken to hospitals.

He pointed out that eight others were injured as a result of two Israeli raids that targeted a tent and a Palestinian gathering in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip reported in a statement that two injured persons had arrived as a result of an Israeli raid that targeted a gathering in a town in the central Gaza Strip.

There was no Israeli comment on the raids.

According to the Gaza-based health authorities, 1,372 people have been killed in Israeli strikes since a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect in October 2025, bringing the total death toll since Oct. 7, 2023, to 73,786.

Separately, Naji Al-Naji, Cultural Advisor of the Palestinian Embassy in Egypt, said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will visit Cairo on Tuesday to meet with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to discuss the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause, according to the Palestinian News Agency.
