Second child dies following domestic violence stabbing west of Sydney

SYDNEY, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- A second child has died after allegedly being stabbed by their mother in a domestic violence incident west of Sydney on Sunday.

A 42-year-old woman and two children, aged one and three, were hospitalized in critical condition after they were found with stab wounds in a vehicle about 60 km west of central Sydney on Sunday afternoon.

A third child, aged five, died at the scene.

Police said in a statement that they were notified on Thursday that the one-year-old had died in hospital.

The three-year-old remained in a critical condition as of Thursday.

The 42-year-old woman, who has been identified as the mother of the three children, was on Tuesday charged with one count of domestic violence murder and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder.

Police said she will now be charged with a second count of murder.
