Israeli military says killed Hamas commander in C. Gaza Strip

JERUSALEM, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Saturday said in a statement that it killed a platoon commander from Hamas's elite Nukhba force in the central Gaza Strip.

The commander, identified as Ibrahim Fawzi Ismail Mohsen, was struck on Friday in the Nuseirat refugee camp, the statement read.

It added that in another strike carried out in Khan Younis, the southern Gaza Strip, the IDF killed Hamas militant Mohammed Kamel Suleiman Mohsen.

The IDF claimed that the two militants recently advanced strikes against IDF soldiers and civilians and sought to restore Hamas's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire.

It noted that before the strikes, measures were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.
