12 al-Shabab militants killed in Somali operation
Twelve al-Shabab militants were killed in a security operation in the Middle Shabelle region, the Somalia's National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said.
In a statement issued on Friday, NISA said its forces targeted a suspected al-Shabab gathering in Bur Saruur village, about two kilometers southeast of Ali-Gaduud.

The agency said the operation destroyed militant hideouts and military equipment. It added that security forces were continuing to track other suspected al-Shabab fighters in the area.
Somali government forces, backed by international partners, have stepped up operations against the armed group in central and southern Somalia.
The offensive has resulted in the recapture of several strategic locations and the destruction of militant bases and weapons storage sites.
