Israeli media says Netanyahu visits UAE for talks with president

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday and met President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with Iran the main focus of their talks, Israel's state-owned Kan TV News reported.

Netanyahu traveled to the UAE on a private plane and spent the day in the country, media said.

There was no immediate comment from Netanyahu's office or the UAE's Foreign Ministry.

Earlier this year, the UAE denied that President Sheikh Mohamed met with Netanyahu after the Israeli prime minister's office said in May that Netanyahu had "secretly visited" the Gulf country and met ⁠with the president.

Since coming under attack during the Iran war, the UAE has strengthened its relationships with the United States and Israel, with which it opened ties ⁠under the 2020 Abraham Accords.
