Security forces kill 5 terrorists in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Five terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan TV reported on Tuesday.

The operation was conducted in the Bara area of Khyber district as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts, it said, citing security sources.

A heavy cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain terrorists, while their hideouts were also destroyed during the operation, according to the report.

The security forces remain committed to eliminating terrorism from the country and establishing lasting peace, it said.
