WADA president visits Kenya amid doping concerns
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) President Witold Bańka arrived in Kenya on Sunday for a three-day visit focused on strengthening the country’s anti-doping system, as concerns over violations involving Kenyan athletes persist.
Bańka is expected to hold discussions with the Kenyan government, the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK), Athletics Kenya and the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK). His itinerary includes meetings with President William Ruto and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya, as well as engagements with athletes.
The visit comes as Kenya works to strengthen testing, investigations, education and compliance with international anti-doping standards. The country is also preparing to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, drawing increased attention to efforts to protect the integrity of Kenyan sport and maintain confidence in its anti-doping system.
