Sri Lanka to provide official email addresses to all gov't employees
COLOMBO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government has decided to provide official email addresses to all government employees as part of efforts to accelerate the digitalization of the public service, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne said on Wednesday.
Weeraratne said the initiative would improve connectivity across the public sector and enable faster communication between government institutions.
The official email system is also expected to facilitate the sharing of documents and other essential data and support services such as video conferencing, he said.
Weeraratne said many government officials currently use personal email accounts for official work.
The introduction of government-issued email addresses is expected to streamline data exchange and strengthen the government's broader digitalization program, he added.
