2 teens charged over fatal western Sydney stabbing
SYDNEY, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Two teenage boys have been charged over a fatal stabbing of a man in western Sydney on Friday night, police said on Monday.
A police statement said that emergency services were called to reports of an assault in the suburb of Mount Druitt, 38 km west of central Sydney, shortly before 9 p.m. on Friday.
Officers arrived at the scene and found a man aged in his 30s with stab wounds to his torso.
The man was treated by police and ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.
Following an investigation, police said a 13-year-old boy was arrested on Sunday night and charged with murder.
A second boy, aged 16, was arrested a short time later and charged with accessory to murder after the offense.
Superintendent Brendan Gorman told reporters on Saturday that around 12 people were present at the time of the stabbing.
"It's a horrendous incident, and it's certainly concerning for police," he said.
Police said that the two teenage boys were denied bail and will make initial children's court appearances on Monday.
