The figures were released at a meeting on the sector's production, consumption and import-export activities held the same day.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the sector's import turnover reached 44.287 billion U.S. dollars during the period, up 9.2 percent year on year, resulting in a trade surplus of approximately 18.6 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 4.7 percent.

Forestry products remained the largest contributor to the trade surplus, the report said.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung said that with the current growth momentum, Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports are projected to exceed 74 billion U.S. dollars in 2026, contributing positively to the country's overall economic growth.
