Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said Monday it had foiled a series of attacks allegedly planned by Ukrainian special services, which concealed explosives in First-Person View goggles disguised as humanitarian aid for Russian servicemen.
The FSB said a Russian serviceman in the Volgograd region contacted the agency after receiving two pairs of goggles from a volunteer. An examination found improvised explosive devices hidden in place of cooling fans, designed to detonate when the goggles were switched on.
The FSB added that security agencies in several regions had seized similar devices from postal services. A criminal case has been opened.
