The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in France on Tuesday expressed strong opposition after France's Foreign Ministry made wild accusations on Monday against Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian's tweet condemning Australian soldiers for their alleged atrocities against Afghan civilians.

An official report of the Australian Department of Defense has publicly confirmed that 25 Australian Special Forces soldiers were suspected of murdering 39 Afghan civilians and prisoners of war between 2009 and 2013, said the press statement by the Chinese embassy in France.

The details in this report include gathering men and boys to either shoot them or blindfold them with their throats slit, slitting the throats of two 14-year-old boys, bagged their bodies and threw them into a nearby river.

"Mr. Zhao's tweet is an objective comment based on the above facts. The picture he quoted is a satirical cartoon created by Chinese folk cartoonist based on the above facts," said the statement.

The statement also said that the French side does not condemn these atrocities that torture and kill civilians, but instead accuses those condemning the atrocities of being "repugnant", "offensive", "outrageous". Such statements are offensive, and can make people question which side these politicians are on: are they with the war criminals or on the side of international justice and human conscience.

"Why cannot a country that resolutely defends the 'cartoon rights' tolerate the 'cartoon rights' of a young Chinese cartoonist? Where is the so-called freedom of speech? When all goes to all, they are applying with double standards, only interested in the position, not whether it is right or wrong. It is against conscience," said the statement.
