A connection between the two robberies was being investigated. According to police, the perpetrators fled "without being recognized." It was not yet known whether any money was stolen during the robberies.

Local media reported that a first alarm was received only half an hour earlier than the second one. In both cases, the target of the robbery was a branch of Commerzbank.

The two banks in the districts of Schoeneberg and Charlottenburg were only about three kilometers apart. In both cases, the robbery was committed by a single perpetrator.

Nobody was injured in the two robberies, according to Berlin's police. However, an employee of the bank "suffered a shock" during the second robbery, a police spokesperson told the Berlin tabloid B.Z..
