BERLIN, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- German Health Minister Jens Spahn has tested positive for the coronavirus and is now self-isolating, the German news agency dpa quoted his ministry as saying on Wednesday.
Spahn tested positive early Wednesday afternoon and went immediately into home quarantine. He has "cold-like" symptoms and the persons he has contacted will be kept informed, said the report.
Spahn attended a cabinet meeting in the office of German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday morning and was reportedly wearing a mask covering his mouth and nose.
The cabinet members do not have to go into quarantine since the participants in the meeting observed the hygiene and distancing rules, the report said, quoting a government spokesperson.
The conditions at the weekly cabinet meetings have been particularly optimized in terms of infection protection and have been professionally checked by the local health authorities, the spokesperson said.
