Global spending on food imports is expected to reach $1.94 trillion in 2022 due to rising prices, the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization warned Friday, a 10 percent jump compared to the previous year.
Along with the surge in food spending, the global import bill for agricultural inputs -- including fertilisers -- is also expected to increase by 48 percent compared to 2021, said the report released by the FAO.
