Hurricane Douglas is currently headed towards the state of Hawaii as a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 90 miles per hour.

"Douglas is continuing a gradual, slow, weakening trend, which in itself is good news, but the bad news is that this hurricane is going to come very close to the islands even as it's weakening," said Robert Ballard, the science and operations officer at the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.

Oahu, home to the state's largest city, Honolulu, has been placed under a hurricane warning. Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell said 13 shelters were to open at 9 a.m. on Sunday around Oahu before the hurricane hit the island. People are required to wear face coverings in the shelter unless they are eating, drinking or sleeping.

The state health department officials also contacted each of the 625 people who were currently in quarantine due to COVID-19 infections or those having close contact with COVID-19 patients. Those people say they would shelter-in-place, instead of traveling to a shelter. That decision has given some relief for the health department to fight COVID-19 in the hurricane season.

As the number of COVID-19 cases rebound in many countries, governments are reimposing safety restrictions to contain the virus.

The U.K. has imposed a 14-day quarantine requirement for travelers returning from Spain, as Spain is experiencing a rise in COVID-19 cases. But Spain is currently negotiating travel restrictions with the U.K. to exclude the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands from the requirement.

According to Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya, the islands are "highly controlled territories" and the COVID-19 situation in Spain is not worse than that of in Britain.

Austria has ordered restaurants and clubs to shut down early and urged people to avoid outside activities after hundreds of new COVID-19 infections in the town of St. Wolfgang, east of Salzburg have been reported recently.

Last week, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz also said that the country ordered a face mandate again in many businesses like supermarkets, smaller grocery stores, post offices and banks.
