JAKARTA, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The G20's First Health Working Group Meeting kicked off on Monday, with dozens of health officials from the major economies gathering in Indonesia's Yogyakarta province to seek a harmonization scheme for global health protocol standards.

Indonesia's Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that currently, each member has started to resume international travels gradually, hoping that such mobility could help accelerate the global economic recovery, and thus it would be important to make efforts to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic.

"However, each member implements different health protocols that often cause inconvenience and confusion, and tend to be costly, for international travelers," Sadikin told a virtual press conference after opening the meeting.

Therefore, it would be great if G20 members can formulate certain standards of health protocols that can be implemented by all as that would make it easier for the people to travel while still protecting themselves from the virus, Sadikin added.
