Canadian prosecution has argued that Meng is a "flight risk" and should be denied bail while Meng's lawyer has proposed an electronic ankle bracelet and strict surveillance.

During the hearing, Meng's lawyers also proposed a 15-million-Canadian-dollar (11.3 million US dollars) bail guarantee for her release.

Meng, also the daughter of Huawei founder, was detained while traveling from Hong Kong to Mexico via Canada at the request of the U.S. on December 1.

The move was part of a US investigation into an alleged scheme to use the global banking system to evade US sanctions against Iran, however, the US has failed to provide any evidence to prove its allegations.

China has condemned the detention and demanded Canada to release Meng.
