JAKARTA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian Health Ministry said on Monday that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country rose by 9,604 within one day to 3,989,060, with the death toll adding by 842 to 127,214.

During the past 24 hours, 24,758 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, raising the total number of recoveries in the Southeast Asian country to 3,571,082, according to the ministry.
The government is currently implementing a multi-tiered community activity restriction scheme, known locally as PPKM, aiming to reduce the daily COVID-19 tally.
The curbs are set to end on Monday. So far, the extension of PPKM has not been officially announced by the government.
Indonesia on Monday received another batch of China's Sinovac vaccine. With the shipment, the country has received more than 200 million doses of vaccines from various producers.
To date, at least 32.04 million people in the country have received two shots of vaccines, and 57.77 million have received the first dose, the Health Ministry said.
The government is targeting to vaccinate 208.2 million people. Enditem
