Iran receives 1st batch of foreign COVID-19 vaccine

TEHRAN, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Iran on Thursday received the first batch of Russia-made COVID-19 vaccine "Sputnik V," official IRNA news agency reported.

The second cargo of "Sputnik V" will arrive in Iran in two weeks and the third will be delivered to Iran by Feb. 28, said Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali.

Iran's health ministry on Thursday reported a total of 1,445,326 nationwide infections, of whom 58,256 have died.

Iran announced its first cases of COVID-19 on Feb. 19, 2020.
