Iran's president refuses to accept FM's resignation

TEHRAN, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday that the Iranian president has not accepted Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's resignation.

According to the chief of staff of the Iranian Presidential Office, the resignation of Zarif has not been accepted by President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Bahram Qasemi, said.

In his Instagram message released on Monday, Zarif hinted his resignation saying "thanks for the great and brave Iranians and my colleagues, but I apologize for my failure to serve you and some flaws in my work."

On Tuesday, Rouhani said that Zarif has been "at frontline of battle against America" in his administration.
