TEHRAN, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Thursday announced the country's readiness to exchange more prisoners with the United States, state TV reported.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi referred to recent diplomatic efforts which resulted in the release of prisoners of both sides, saying that if the ground is prepared for further swap of prisoners, the Islamic republic will use all its diplomatic capacity to free the Iranians in the jails of the United States.

Last week, Iran freed U.S. navy veteran Michael White who has been in Iran's jail for "espionage" charges. Concurrently, the U.S. released the Iranian scientist, Majid Taheri, who had been in the U.S. jail for "violating U.S. sanctions against Iran."
