Israel confirms 579 new COVID-19 cases

JERUSALEM, April 5 (Xinhua) -- A total of 579 people in Israel were tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the tally of infections to 8,430, the Israeli Ministry of Health said.

The ministry also announced six new deaths from the novel coronavirus on Sunday, raising the death toll to 49.

Of the 763 patients being treated in hospitals across Israel, 139 are in serious condition and 182 are in moderate condition.

Of the other 7,618 patients, 5,234 are treated in home quarantine, 744 in hotels converted into treatment facilities, 546 have recovered, and the remaining 1,094 will be treated at home, hotel or hospital according to decisions to be made soon.
