Sources told Xinhua that the Israeli war jets struck military post that belongs to the military wing of Islamic Jihad, Saraya al-Quds, known as "Hittin," south of Gaza Strip.

Witnesses said several explosions and fire flames were seen. No injuries were reported.

Israeli army said in a press statement that it has began targeting Islamic Jihad posts in Gaza.

Israeli drones have been hovering over the coastal enclave since early Monday, which is likely to lead to more strikes.

The Israeli strikes came in response to 14 rockets launched from Gaza towards southern Israel earlier, 12 of which were intercepted.
