Cairo(People’s Daily)- Jordan health officials confirmed the country’s first case of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday, a Jordanian news agency reported.

During a press briefing, Jordan’s Health Minister Saad Jaber said the victim was returning from Italy and placed under quarantine several days ago.

The Jordanian national underwent tests after revealing virus-like symptoms.

The patient remains in quarantine and under hospital supervision by a specialized medical team, Jaber said, adding that if over 20 COVID-19 cases are reported, then schools will be ordered to close and public gatherings will be banned.
