KUWAIT CITY, May 3 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait on Sunday reported 364 new cases of COVID-19 and five more deaths, bringing the total infections in the country to 4,983 and the death toll to 38, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

The new cases included 14 Kuwaiti citizens who returned from Britain, the statement said, adding that 348 new cases had contact with infected patients.

The cause of the infections for other new cases is still under investigation, it noted.

Currently, 3,169 patients are receiving treatment, including 72 in ICU, according to the statement.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Minister of Health Bassel Al-Sabah announced the recovery of 73 patients from the coronavirus, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,776.

A Chinese medical team sent by the Chinese government has wrapped up its visit to the Arab country.

During the visit, the team members discussed with their Kuwaiti counterparts China's experience in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, and exchanged detailed information on the prevention and treatment of the disease.

The Kuwaiti government has imposed a nationwide curfew to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

On March 13, Kuwait suspended all commercial flights. The government also closed stores, malls and barbershops in an effort to curb the spread of the virus.
