BEIRUT, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Caretaker Minister of State for Presidency Affairs Salim Jreissati said on Friday that Lebanon is keen to keep strong ties with Japan and it has nothing to do with former Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn's escape to Beirut.

Jreissati's remarks came during his meeting with the Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon Takeshi Okubo to discuss the latest developments with regard to Ghosn, the National News Agency reported.

The two officials agreed to follow up on the updates of this case.

Ghosn arrived in Lebanon's capital Beirut on Monday after fleeing from Japan amid charges of financial misconduct.

The Lebanese prosecution received on Thursday a red notice by the Interpol to arrest Ghosn.

Meanwhile, caretaker Justice Minister Albert Serhan said Ghosn will be prosecuted according to the Lebanese laws in the absence of any extradition treaty between Lebanon and Japan.
