The patient, a Lithuanian woman who flew into Lithuania's city of Kaunas from Italy's northern city of Verona, is currently in isolation in the Republic Siauliai Hospital, which has the required infrastructure to treat coronavirus patients, the ministry said.

"The patient is reported to have mild symptoms; currently she has no fever and is being treated. The woman has been monitored since her return to Lithuania just as other travelers returning from the affected areas," it said.

According to the ministry, three of the patient's family members are also being closely monitored in the hospital, though none have tested positive for COVID-19.

Local authorities are also contacting those who have been in close proximity to the woman and assessing their health, it said, adding no symptoms have been reported yet.

"The mechanism will be activated now. People who were traveling together and spending time with the patient are now included in the high risk category and will be monitored," Lithuania's Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga was quoted as saying by local news agency Elta.
