Malaysia reports 106 new COVID-19 cases, deaths rise to 15

Bangkok (People’s Daily) - Malaysia reported 106 new cases and 1 death related to the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections to 1,624 and deaths to 15, according to the country’s health ministry. 

43 new cases and 1 death are linked to a mosque gathering in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, during a religious event from February 27 to March 1 that involved about 16,000 people and led to comfirmed infections outside Malaysia in Cambodia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. So far, There are 10 deaths linked to the religious event.

Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also said that 64 patients were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 24 others were on ventilators.
