Malaysia reports 20,780 new COVID-19 cases, 211 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported another 20,780 new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Wednesday, bringing the national total to 1,320,547.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that 15 of the new cases are imported and 20,765 are local transmissions.

Another 211 more deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 11,373.

Another 17,973 patients were released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 1,075,816 or 81.5 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 233,358 active cases, 1,053 are being held in intensive care and 546 of those are in need of assisted breathing.
